This award was created during session 2015-16 in memory of Sheriff Jim Murphy who joined the Glasgow Scribes in 2001 however, sadly, died in March 2015. As a fitting tribute to a keen calligrapher, a friendly, enthusiastic, generous and supportive group member and friend the group agreed that an award in his name would be an excellent way to remember him
At the end of our May Annual Exhibition of members work, held in Cass Art Glasgow, a "Best Exhibit" is chosen with the calligrapher becoming custodian of the Sheriff Jim Murphy Award during the following September to May. S/he also receives a certificate which is kept permanently
Prizewinners to date are:-
