Our members, and visitors, live in and around Glasgow and even as far as Ayrshire, Central region, Fife and Edinburgh. So despite our name "Glasgow Scribes" anyone who is interested in calligraphy and lives within travelling distance of Glasgow is very welcome to visit us/join us!
Each member has different interests and experience in calligraphy. Some are fairly new to calligraphy having learned at classes or on a self taught basis, others have many years of practicing the art. Calligraphic interests include - different scripts (e.g Roundhand, Italics, etc), gilding, small bookmaking, using different art media, silk painting and so on. These interests contribute to a wealth of calligraphy experience which can be shared amongst members and also include a common enthusiasm for the relaxing, amazing, diverse and engrossing art form.
If you are interested in joining the Glasgow Scribes the following information will be useful:-
- Annual Membership Fee - £45
- Tutor Led Workshops - Paid for by participants, must be booked in advance
- Visitor Fee - £8 donation per meeting
There is no obligation to join our group straight away so please visit us to see if you like us and our activities. If you do join us the benefits of full membership are:-
