This two day workshop will introduce participants to a straightforward and original way of using colour balance and practical techniques in heraldic and letter illumination. The workshop is suitable for new and existing calligraphers and those interested in heraldry, illumination and gilding
Topics covered in the workshop will include; simple shields with heraldic charges, e.g. fleur de lys, rose, scallop shell and thistle will be explored with observations from nature and stylisation based on underlying geometric forms. Heraldic charges will then be freed from coat of arms and heraldry rules with ideas developed to create exciting illuminated designs to decorate a gilded Versals letter.
The workshop will take place on the 16th-17th November 2019 from 10am to 4pm at Glasgow Caledonian University with a fee of £100 for members of the Glasgow Scribes and visitors.
